Canned Smile

This is Dylan's canned smile. I am dedicating this post to Auntie Joanne, Uncle Paul, and cousin Katie Beth, who have perfected their own beautiful canned smiles for the camera.

He is joining the ranks... There is just one minor thing - he just hasn't figured out that it may be better to flash the grin after he swallows the berries. No worries, young Jedi, training, you will get.

Presenting.... More!

We've been working on this for months. Just when I was convinced sign language isn't for Dylan, a lightswitch somehow got turned on as he now clearly understands and uses "more" in context. Context in our case really means it only applies to berries (so far). Regardless, we are so proud of him. Now, we can work on signing "Eddy out", "swimmer", and "equipment in the water" and we'll be ready to train him to become a river guide.

OK, maybe not just yet. We'll work on "thank you", "thirsty", and "hungry" next. Then, we'll talk about the river guide thing.

The Little Piggy in the Mud

It was super hot this past Sunday so we headed out to the beach to let Dylan have some fun in the sun and the water. We got there when the tide was extremely low so we knew it would be muddy. We knew Dylan loves to frolick in the water but it also turns out Dylan loves mud! The day was not without squealing in delight at the mud puddles and the small waves that licked his legs as he sat at the water's edge.

I bet most kids love mud but I thought it was so appropriate that Dylan does as he was born in the year of the pig in Chinese astrology. Our little piggy!!

After we got enough mud and sun, we headed over to the Bay Area Discovery Museum for some rinsing and some indoor fun.

Easter

Dylan's first easter consisted of......

...eating his first candy necklace and easter egg hunt at Auntie Kay's and Uncle Tom's. And when he couldn't find any more candy on his necklace, he proceeded to try and eat the buttons on his shirt. Oh what fun!
